Alongside okonomiyaki, teppanyaki and yakisoba, Tekitei’s signature toro-yaki is one of the first dishes to catch the eye. The menu describes it as pork and mochi cooked in a batter inspired by Akashiyaki, served with yuzu ponzu. One diner who ordered it praised its thin batter, rich egg flavour and the pleasure of eating it hot from the grill. Another described a thin-battered dish made with pork, mochi, shiso and egg. It is an option for anyone looking to try something different from standard okonomiyaki.
For a more substantial helping of teppan-cooked flour dishes, try the Mix-dama, with pork, squid and prawns, or Tekitei-yaki, made with pork, modern-yaki and spring onion. Beyond okonomiyaki, the menu includes pork yakisoba, seafood salt yakisoba and omu-soba; one diner particularly recommended the yakisoba. The mixed yakisoba with pork, squid and prawns makes a good choice for its variety of toppings, while pork kimchi yakisoba offers a different flavour combination.
You can also share the grill and order a few smaller dishes alongside your main. Diners have combined prawns with tartar sauce, omelette-style tonpei-yaki and yakisoba; another meal began with grilled edamame, followed by stir-fried pork and bean sprouts, and finished with pork modern-yaki. For a slower meal with a few dishes to share, consider edamame, chilled tomato and simmered beef tendon, with beer or a highball.
Set meals are available at lunchtime. The menu lists pork loin tonteki and yakisoba set meals served with rice, miso soup, salad and pickles. One diner recalled finishing a three-steak lunch set featuring sirloin, tonteki and chicken steak, making a set meal another way to enjoy the teppan dishes.
For a group, the smaller-party sets are worth considering. The Recommended Set is listed at 4,200 yen and includes a choice of dish, followed by pork belly with spring onion and salt, Mix-dama, toro-yaki and a large serving of yakisoba. Other listed options include an okonomiyaki set with sirloin steak, as well as banquet sets featuring teppanyaki and fried rice. A 120-minute all-you-can-drink plan is listed for set orders only.
